Financial Aid

Financial Aid

It is spelled out in SYSO’s mission statement. “Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestras provides life changing musical experiences for talented students in the Pacific Northwest, regardless of their financial resources.”

We understand that, even though SYSO works to keeps our fees as low as possible, full tuition for our academic year and summer youth orchestra programs will be more than some families can afford. We also believe that the benefits young musicians gain from participating in our programs should not be limited by their family’s financial situation. For that reason, SYSO provides financial aid and work study opportunities to families that can demonstrate need. In fact, SYSO provides financial aid to 22% of the participants in its tuition-based programs. During our 2012/2013 fiscal year, we awarded nearly $182,000 in tuition support.*

To apply for financial aid or work study for the upcoming orchestra season, just fill out the two-page financial aid form and return it to the SYSO office. Please note that applicants for work study must also go through the financial aid process.

*SYSO seeks backing from various sources to help ensure that talented students are able to participate, regardless of their financial resources. However, donations to our scholarship fund vary from year to year and cannot be guaranteed.
