2011-2012 Soloist Bios

Jeffrey Lee

Jeffrey Lee, 16, student of Simon James, is a junior at the Overlake School. Jeffrey has served as concertmaster of the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Classical Symphony Orchestra. Currently concertmaster of the Overlake School String Chamber Orchestra, Jeffrey has been a recipient of youth talent search of the University of Washington and the Johns Hopkins University. He has won titles in the Washington State Science & Engineering Fairs and math competitions as well. Jeffrey has received the Asian Pacific American Science, Engineering, and Technology Scholarship Award twice. He has volunteered as the webmaster for the Coleman Violin Studio since 2007.

Felicity James

Felicity James, age 15, is a student of Simon James and works with piano collaborator Hiro David with whom she also studies piano and theory. She previously studied with Elisa Barston, Jan Coleman, and Janai Fuller and has performed in master classes with Leonidas Kavakos, James Ehnes, Jacques Israelievitch, Jan Sloman, Grigory Kalinovsky, Paul Cantor, Andres Cardenes, and Brian Lewis. She has performed as soloist with the Seattle Symphony, Coeur d’Alene Symphony, Ottawa Chamber Symphony, Port Gardiner Bay Chamber Orchestra, and the Eastside Project Chamber Orchestra. Felicity was one of 12 young violinists invited to participate in the 2011 Brian Lewis Young Artists Program. Felicity has received honorable mention at both the Music Teacher’s National Association and the Simon Fiset violin competitions and was awarded special recognition at Seattle Young Artists Music Festival. She has been Concertmaster of Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra’s Symphonette and Debut Orchestras and Assistant Concertmaster of SYSO’s Youth Symphony. Felicity enjoys chamber music and plays regularly with her string quartet and has participated at both the Sunflower and Methow Valley string quartet programs. Felicity has also performed as a member of the Children’s Chorus for the Seattle Opera. Felicity enjoys being homeschooled, playing tennis, AWANA, reading, traveling with her family, and playing with her dog.
